Most tocotrienol products are derived from palm oil or rice bran oil. Tocotrienol and tocopherol concentrates, referred to as tocotrienol-rich fractions or TRFs, from rice or palm typically contain 25% to 50% tocopherols.
The most effective concentrates shown to lower plasma cholesterol and oxidative indicators in numerous human studies were those with low tocopherols and high tocotrienols.
