Important Facts for Usage

Our product is designed to release slower than the conventional rapid release niacin products on the market. However, there is a high probability of initial flushing with any niacin product, including our Niacin CRT. Over time, with consistent dosing, a patient may develop tolerance to this or any Niacin product. There is also the potential for other reactions stemming from flushing which may seem more severe to the patient such as: dizziness, shortness of breath, sweating, and increased heart rate.

This needs to be STRONGLY conveyed to the patient to avoid overreaction to these benign yet potentially alarming reactions to the niacin.

How to take Niacin CRT

Niacin CRT™ should be taken at bedtime, as cholesterol synthesis has been shown to be highest in the evening hours. Taking Niacin CRT at bedtime will also help to reduce the incidence and severity of flushing which may occur during early supplementation with niacin.

The following dosage titration schedule for Niacin CRT is recommended:

1 tablet (500 mg) at bedtime for weeks 1 thru 4;
2 tablets (1000 mg) at bedtime for weeks 5 thru 8.
If necessary after week 8, the dose can be increased by 500 mg every 4 weeks to a maximum of 2000 mg at bedtime or as directed by your health care professional.

Avoid taking with alcohol, hot beverages, or juice as this can accelerate the dissolution of the tablet leading to higher initial levels of niacin.

Many of you have seen excellent results in maintaining normal cholesterol levels with time-release niacin. Controlled Release Technology (CRT) is the latest technology for delivering niacin in a continuous, controlled rate over a 12-14 hour period. Flushing sometimes happens with time-release niacin as there can be fairly large surges of niacin released intermittently over a 6-8 hour period. However, flushing is far less likely with controlled release niacin.

Serving Size: 1 tablet

Recommended Use: As a dietary supplement, take one tablet daily with meals or as directed by your health care practitioner. Sensitive individuals may still require moderate niacin titration.

Niacin CRTTM incorporates technology which helps minimize instances of flushing. However, some individuals who may be sensitive to niacin, and its various forms, may still experience temporary flushing, vasodilation, and hot flash-like symptoms.
